Allenspark Area Club / Boulder County
On Saturday, August 8th from 9:00 AM until noon, Allenspark Area Club volunteers will assist staff from the Boulder County Resource Conservation Division in the annual Diversion Day event at the Transfer Station. This program gives our community an opportunity to recycle or safely process difficult to dispose of items at no cost to the individual. This is part of the county’s Zero Waste initiative; additional information can be found at www.BoulderCountyRecycles.org or by calling 720-564-2220.
The Diversion Day event is open to all residents and landowners within the Boulder County portion of the Allenspark Fire Protection District; please bring identification to verify your address such as a driver’s license or utility bill. This service is provided for residential properties only. Items from businesses, including lodges, cannot be accepted.
Vehicles will enter the vacant lot between the Allenspark Osmun Fire Station and the Transfer Station, and after unloading accepted materials, proceed through the rear gate of the Transfer Station for any routine recycling and trash disposal before exiting on to 84W and returning to the highway. Helpers will be available, but participants should be prepared to unload their own vehicles. The area in front of the fire station must be kept clear at all times while waiting to enter.
Items to be collected at no charge are:
- Appliances, including those containing CFCs (Freon) such as refrigerators and freezers
- Motor Oil
- Antifreeze / coolant
- Paint and Stain – latex and oil based
- Electronics – now including nicotine (but not THC) vaping pens
- Mattresses and box springs – clean and suitable for re-use
- Cushions from couches and chairs – clean and suitable for re-use
- Tires – with or without wheels, pickup truck size maximum
- Batteries – including lead acid automotive type batteries; household types such as AA, AAA, C, D; rechargeable Ni Cad and Lithium
